OIG: HHS Improves Security, Yet Flaws Remain

The Department of Health and Human Services continues to improve its information security program. But a new watchdog agency report says it needs to address a number of ongoing weaknesses. Many of the weaknesses identified at HHS also are common at many private-sector healthcare organizations and need to be addressed. The report notes that HHS continues to work toward implementing a departmentwide continuous diagnostics and mitigation program, “coordinating with the Department of Homeland Security” In addition, not knowing with certainty with what applications and what applications are part of the network, is particularly worrisome.”]
