North Korean Hackers Behind $571M Crypto Heists Says UN Report

North Korean backed hacking groups were behind multiple cyberattacks on financial institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges, according to a UN panel of experts. The report also notes that hackers sponsored by the Democratic People s Republic of Korea (DPRK) government have also targeted organizations which operate cryptocurrency markets. The panel concluded the “Finance”” part of the report with a series of recommendations to the UN Security Council. The UN panel also noted that North Korea carried out at least five successful attacks against cryptocurrency exchanges between January 2017 and September 2018.”
