NIST Works to Create AI Risk Management Framework

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is working to develop risk management guidance around the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The agency says it hopes to understand how organizations and individuals involved with developing and using AI systems might be able to address cybersecurity, privacy and safety risks. The NIST request for information appears in the Federal Register on Aug. 19. It follows direction from Congress for the agency, as well as the executive order signed in February 2019 by former President Donald Trump.
