$2.3 Million of Colonial Pipeline Ransom Payment Recovered

U.S. Justice Department recouped $2.3 million of $4.4 million ransom Colonial Pipeline Co. paid following a May 7 ransomware attack. DOJ’s Ransomware and Digital Extortion Task Force coordinated the effort, in which the FBI tracked part of the payment to a bitcoin wallet it controls, enabling law enforcement officials to recover the money. Colonial Pipeline CEO Joseph Blount is scheduled to answer questions about the attack to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.”]
