A database containing confidential information was hacked by a third-party group. Names of car owners, personal e-mail addresses, and VINs were included in the database. Honda immediately issued an alert to people affected by the breach, saying it would be very difficult for the hackers to use the information to steal a person’s identity. Acura, the luxury car brand also affected in the security breach, as their accounts were also included. The company also issued a warning via e-mails to people involved in the breach.
