A CyberNews researcher posed as a Russian cybercriminal to pose as a hacker for an undercover interview with an affiliate group of the REvil and Ragnar Locker ransomware cartels. During the interview, a researcher asked the gang to reveal their ransom payout structure, cash out schemes, and target acquisition strategies. The operation was run by an affiliate of REvil also known as Sodinokibi one of the most notorious ransomware groups in the world. REvil is infamous for being the very first ransomware-as-a-service cartel to use the so-called double extortion tactic.”]
