Microsoft Says Russian Hacker Gets Active Amid EU Election

Microsoft says they have found a hacking campaign targeting democratic institutions just before European Union elections this year. This is from a group believed to be sponsored by the Russian government. Microsoft believes that the campaign is using the same tools which were used to influence the US election in 2016. The attacks have targeted the employees of political campaigns as well as think-tanks and non-profit organizations working on topics connected to democracy. The German Council on Foreign Relations are among the organizations targeted, and Aspen Institutes in Europe, and The German Marshall Fund, according to Microsoft.”]
