Microsoft fights US attempt to access emails at Dublin data centre

Earlier this year, a US judge ordered Microsoft to hand over details of a customers email conversations. The contents of those emails were stored on servers located in Dublin, Ireland. Microsoft is resisting this warrant on the grounds that digital content should have the same privacy protections as physical content. Apple, Cisco, eBay, Verizon, Salesforce and others have joined forces with Microsoft to back the case before the appeals court to block access to the Dublin servers.
