Microsoft says it has disabled an online tracking technology that allowed the company to sneakily track users on MSN.com. A Stanford University researcher says Microsoft has code that would have caused a user’s cookie to be recreated — even after it had been deleted by the user had been cleared. Microsoft says the code was used only on its own sites, and was already scheduled to be discontinued. The Berkeley researchers also found that many sites, including Hulu, employed supercookies to track users for advertising purposes.”]
