Memory Encryption Breakthrough Claimed By NC State Researchers

Non-volatile main memory is seen as an eventual replacement for dynamic random-access memory. With NVMM, with NVMM “when you turn off the power, the data remains there” N.C. State researchers have built a hardware-based method to self- encrypt NVMM data. Encryption is known to greatly slow performance but under some conditions, there’s only a 3% performance hit with encryption. The idea is it might eventually become integrated into chipsets, possibly in smartphones and other mobile devices.”]
