Antivirus 8 is being used to infect computers with fake anti-virus pop-ups. The pop-up would appear right when ICQ was fetching/displaying new ads. This is done to make sure the ad distributor will actually run the campaign, as these distributors often get approached by fraudsters. The bad guys make it seem like their server got hacked, so they can claim it isnt them whos responsible for distributing the malware.
