Mac Malware Targets Apple’s New M1 Processor

A malicious adware-distributing application specifically targets Apple s new M1 SoC, used in its newest-generation MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini devices. The Apple M1 is the first ARM-based silicon designed by Apple, which is now the central processing unit for its Mac devices. Apple has since revoked the certificate for the malicious application, which was signed with developer ID yngan. The application downloads a variant of Pirrit, a type of adware. It creates a proxy server on infected Macs and injects ads into webpages.
