Lucifer Botnet Now Can Target Linux Devices

Lucifer Botnet can now target Linux-based systems, according to Netscout researchers. The botnet has been infecting Windows devices with cryptominers and using denial-of-service attacks. The updated version of the Lucifer botnet now also plants Mimikatz, a script used to steal credentials and escalate privileges within compromised Windows devices. It can then plant XMRig malware to mine for monero cryptocurrency as well as launch DDoS attacks against targets, the Palo Alto Network’s Unit 42 says.”]
