Facebook announced Libra cryptocurrency and the matching digital Calibra wallet. Cybercriminals have been registering domains that impersonate the legitimate websites for both the coin and the wallet. Not all of the domains are fraudulent, though, as individuals rushed to purchase domains hoping Facebook would offer a better price at a later time. Some of the newly-registered domains have a more nefarious purpose, however, to promote scams that abuse these names. Another type of scam is to offer virtual private servers claiming that they have access to the Libra blockchain, although the cryptocurrency is not available.
