Lake City agrees to pay $460K ransom in cyberattack

Lake City agrees to pay $460,000 to hackers who crippled its computer system. The triple threat attack knocked out the citys email and credit card systems last week. Mayor Stephen Witt says it could take weeks or months for services to return to normal. The FBI doesn’t encourage people to pay cybercriminals, an FBI special agent tells Action News Jax. Lake City’s insurance will cover all of it except $10,000, the mayor says, and the citizens’ responsibility.”]
