‘Kobalos’ Linux Malware Targets Supercomputers Worldwide

Malware dubbed ‘Kobalos’ is targeting high-performance computing clusters and supercomputers, a new report by security firm ESET finds. Malware is designed to steal Secure Shell or Secure Shell – a cryptographic network protocol for providing secure remote login, even over unsecured networks. Kobalos is “generic malware,” but a highly versatile Linux strain and is equipped with a unique Linux infrastructure – most notably, its command-and-control structure. The malware targets a wide range of Linux, BSD and Solaris, the report notes.”]
