Kazaa Loses Copyright Case in Australia

Australian judge rules that operators of Kazaa file-sharing network authorized copyright violation. Sharman Networks Ltd. ordered to pay 90 percent of labels’ legal costs. Decision is a blow to operator who has been battling the closely-watched case since early last year. Case was filed by the local subsidiaries of most of the big recording labels, including Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment Ltd. and EMI Group.
