Joker Android Malware Dupes Its Way Back Onto Google Play

A new variant of the Joker malware has hoodwinked its way onto the Google Play marketplace yet again, in 11 Android apps that were recently removed. The Joker malware uses a tactic where it hides malicious code inside what s called the Android Manifest file of a legitimate application, making it easier to skirt by the app vetting process. In January, researchers revealed that Google removed 17,000 Android apps so far from the Play store that have been conduits for Joker malware.
