Former national intelligence director James Clapper says U.S. intelligence community needs to be more transparent with the public. Clapper says the 2013 Snowden leak highlighted the need for transparency. The former director of national intelligence said it’s important to provide a safe space for whistleblowers to air complaints with the government in a protected, safe space. Cyberthreats to look out for include espionage, IP theft and IP theft as well as disinformation campaigns on social media, he said. Cybersecurity has become a huge whack-a-mole game, Clapper said.
