The Technology Minister Daryl Vaz says a date will be announced shortly for the implementation of the Jamaica Data Protection Act.

- The Data Protection Act provides a framework that governs the use of personal data of Jamaicans by public and private entities.
- The Minister says the schedule will be published once the ministry completes recruitment for the Office of the Information Commissioner.
- The responsibility of this office will include the monitoring of compliance with the Act and attendant regulations, disseminating information to the public concerning the operations of the Act, preparing and disseminating or directing the preparation and dissemination of guidelines.
