As the country welcomes another Cybersecurity Awareness month the Ja-CIRT and its partners use the opportunity to educate citizens of the dangers and necessary precautions of the online space.

- As the nation continues to navigate through the increased online presence because of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Jamaica Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (Ja-CIRT) are taking the initiative in Cybersecurity Month to petition Jamaicans to report illegal online activities.
- The Head of Ja-CIRT in the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology, Lieutenant Colonel Godphey Sterling had expressed how imperative it is that citizens come forward with any knowledge they have. He made mention to this not only being a local problem but a global one and that only by persons coming forward will we enjoy true safety online.
- Lieutenant Colonel Sterling noted that the Government committed to building a digital society but made his concerns known about the lack of awareness among the people. He continued to elaborate, detailing the need for robust cybersecurity frameworks needing to be the shield for all citizens to safely access the many online resources available. These frameworks are inclusive of laws which Jamaicans were advised to become familiar with.
- In commemoration of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, four virtual forums will be hosted by the Ja-CIRT and partners from October 8 to 26. Facilitating collaboration between public- and private-sector partners for a weekly series, the forums will be focused on highlighting cyber risks and threats and measures that can be taken to stay safe online.
