Jamaica Information Service published an article on October 8, 2020, about the public being invited to participate in the Forums being hosted by Jamaica’s CIRT.
For October 2020, Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the public was invited to participate in virtual forums held by the Jamaica Cyber Incident Response Team under the international theme: “Play your part, be Cybersmart”.
Key points:
- Four virtual forums were hosted from October 8-28, 2020 to celebrate the month. The webinars brought in public and private sector partners for a weekly series concentrated on debunking cyber risks, threats, online safety tips, and measures.
- Each Thursday at 10 a.m for an hour they discussed the following: data protection, securing devices at home, securing devices at work, and the future of connected devices, respectively.
- This was the fifth consecutive year that the Ja-CRIT acknowledges Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The government entity uses this initiative annually to popularize cybersecurity among citizens and is recommending that they become knowledgeable of the Cybersecurity Act.
- Ja-CIRT partnered with the American Chamber of Commerce, the British High Commission, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, tTech Limited, among others to commemorate Cybersecurity Month.
