Jamaica Would Be Further Ahead with NIDS BOJ Governor

Bank of Jamaica Governor Richard Byles says Jamaica would be much farther ahead if the country had NIDS. He says a single form of identification would help the country with its Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism, AML/CFT initiatives. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court ruled that aspects of the NIDS legislation were unconstitutional. He was speaking at a breakfast forum hosted by Jamaica Money Market Brokers, JMMB, last week. The BOJ Governor says other central banks in the region have been looking at ways to introduce digital currencies.
