A recent study by Forescout Technologies found network segmentation practices are inconsistent across the healthcare industry. Segmentation involves splitting a network into subnetworks that are isolated from each other. The greater the number of VLANs an organization chooses to employ, the lower their potential for breach. But just under half of organizations in that subset employ only a single VLAN, the report finds. A poor or rushed rollout of security tools could ignore an array of network security vulnerabilities, expert Ellen Sundra says.”]
