Ireland’s Health Services hit with $20 million ransomware demand

Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE) shut down all of their IT systems on Friday after suffering a Conti ransomware attack. The Irish national health service says they are refusing to pay a $20 million ransom demand to the Conti gang. Hackers claim to have had access to the HSE network for two weeks and have stolen 700 GB of unencrypted files. The Prime Minister of Ireland, Miche..l Martin, said that they would not be paying any ransom. Conti is believed to be run by a Russia-based cybercrime group known as Wizard Spider.
