The perpetrator of a massive DDoS attack on the KrebsOnSecurity website has publicly released the code used in the assault. Security analysts fear it could make it easier for others to launch similar salvos. The code is designed to attack Internet-connected consumer devices that are protected only with default passwords and usernames. The malware was used to create a botnet comprised mostly of home routers and network-enabled cameras, digital video recorders and other IoT devices. The increased competition for the vulnerable devices could actually result in Mirai-enabled DDoS attacks becoming smaller, analysts say.”]
