Law enforcement and judicial authorities worldwide have effected a global takedown of the Emotet botnet, Europol announced today. Authorities in the Netherlands, Germany, the United States, the UK, France, Lithuania, Canada and Ukraine have taken control of the botnet. The Dutch National Police have also managed to grab a database containing e-mail addresses, usernames and passwords stolen by the botnets. The Emotets botnet is one of the most resilient malware in the wild.
