In Australia, Email Compromise Scams Hit Real Estate

Australian real estate industry has been caught off guard by so-called “business email compromise scams” The FBI estimates that worldwide losses from such scams are in the billions. Scammers use a network of money handlers and bogus bank accounts to siphon and launder money in ways that can be difficult to track and recover. Real estate industry is an attractive target for a few reasons, says expert Alex Tilley, senior security researcher with Dell’s SecureWorks Counter Threat Unit. “They’re not ready for this,” Tilley says.”]
