Impact of N.Y. Agency Head’s Departure

Benjamin M. Lawsky, superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, announced he was moving on May 20. Lawsky announced plans to push for new cybersecurity regulations aimed at addressing third-party risks and beefing up user authentication. Financial fraud expert Avivah Litan, an analyst for the consultancy Gartner, says the cybersecurity regulatory plans Lawsky initiated could be set back by at least a year or two.
