IG: DHS Port Security Program Needs Work

Department of Homeland Security has taken action to improve the management and effectiveness of its port security grant program. DHS has provided some $700 million in five rounds of funding to U.S. ports to help improve security. A recent report by the departments inspector general (IG) suggested a modified eligibility criteria and a funding formula based on risk. The report also suggested a minimum threshold for initiatives to be funded and suggests the department create a one, according to Federal Computer Week (FCW)”]
