Prolific Russian Hacker Gets Nine Years in Prison

Alexander Tverdokhlebov, 29, a former Russian national, now a US citizen living in Los Angeles, was sentenced to nine years in prison for operating a banking trojan botnet and stealing money from victims’ bank accounts. The hacker operated a botnet of nearly 500,000 infected PCs, from where he stole over 40,000 payment card numbers. He also used so-called “money mules”” services to cash out stolen funds from hijacked bank accounts
