US-based security firm Carbon Black accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of sensitive files from its customers. Carbon Black’s CB Response is responsible for leaking a massive amount of its customers’ data, says DirectDefense President Jim Broome. Broome says he discovered this issue mid-2016 when his client was working on a potential breach on a client’s computer. He claims whenever the tool encounters a new file on its clients’ computer that it has never seen before, it first uploads the file to Carbon Black servers, and then company forwards a copy of that file to VirusTotal multiscanner.
