Windows and Linux operating systems include applications that would be useful for either operating system. Using the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) you can now launch Linux applications directly in a Windows command prompt or a Windows 10 command prompt. The only caveat to this interoperability is that you cannot currently launch Linux commands that require elevated Windows privileges. To use Linux programs in Windows, you would typically need to find versions that have been ported to Windows, so you would need to use WSL versions.
