How MIT’s Fiat Cryptography might make the web more secure

MIT researchers have developed a new system for creating cryptographic algorithms for encryption. Fiat Cryptography is already being used by Google to secure communication by its Chrome web browser. The system automatically generates algorithms for all hardware platforms, a process previously done by hand. The results are much more reliable and less error-prone than before, says Adam Chlipala, the lead researcher at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. “Automation is an important step forward,” says Rolf von Roessing, a partner and CEO at Forfa Consulting.”]
