How I Taught the Senate To Hack

Chris Wysopal, co-founder of application security testing firm Veracode, taught Senate staffers on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee about hacking. The 40-something computer security expert, using the handle Weld, sat before the very same Senate committee thirteen years before, as a member of the hacker collective known as L0pht to talk about the problem of weak computer security in government. He says Congressmen and women and their staff too often turn to vendors to help understand the context of news stories about sensational attacks against U.S. government or private firms.
