How 153 robocalls cost one company $229,500

Araceli King, an insurance claims specialist from Texas, received 153 calls from Time Warner Cable. None of the calls were intended for her in the first place. 74 of those calls came after she sued the company in March 2014. Judge Alvin Hellerstein set the amount at $1500 per call thats $229,500 (about 148,000) Judge Hellerstein said TWC’s behaviour was particularly egregious as it violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 legislation specifically enacted to curb robocalls.”]
