House votes to outlaw NSA’s bulk collection of phone records

The House Judiciary Committee votes 32-0 to approve an amended version of the USA Freedom Act. The bill would require the NSA to get case-by-case approval from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. A similar bill is awaiting action in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The vote shows strong bipartisan support for “real NSA reform,” says a New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute policy director. The committee’s vote sends the bill to the House floor; a Senate committee also has a similar bill pending action.”]
