Malwarebytes says at least 600 devices across Germany have been infected with Gootkit, REvil and REvil malware. The hacking campaign is using compromised websites and social engineering tactics to trick users into downloading malicious payloads, Malwarebyte says. The hackers start by using search engine optimization techniques to spread the payloads. GootKit, a banking Trojan that is capable of recording video to steal financial information from victims, is known to target victims intermittently before disappearing again. No ransom cases associated with the campaign have been detected.”]
