Hackers Threaten Symantec with Full Source Code Release

The hacking collective ‘Yama Tough’ has threatened to release code for the full Norton AntiVirus. The group has linked the code release to a lawsuit filed by US resident James Gross against Symantec last week. The company said leaked documentation and code dated back as far as 1999, some of which related to Endpoint Protection 11.0 and Antivirus 10.2, and would have no impact on its current products. For the time being, whatever is posted on Tuesday will probably be less of a real security compromise than simply spell out the vulnerability of data and source code stored by security vendors on third-party servers.”]
