DPI Guyana published an article on July 2, 2019 titled Boosting Cybersecurity in Guyana.
Members of various ministries and government agencies met at the Arthur Chung Conference Center for a stakeholder consultation of developing an effective strategy for the nation and its cyber assets.

- The event was facilitated by The Ministry of Public Telecommunications in partnership with the National Data Management Authority (NDMA) along with the Organization of American States (OAS).
- Cybersecurity Manager of the NDMA, Muriana McPherson says that as a rapidly developing state, Guyana must be cybersecurity ready.
- While Guyana is moving a few of its public sector services to be available via digital use, the nation has already experienced several cyber-attacks.
- McPherson of the NDMA stressed the fact that the issue must be addressed at a national level since Guyana is ranked with one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
- For the success of these efforts, the nation will be collaborating with agencies both local and international, to further the developments.
- The Cybersecurity Manager of the NDMA further stated that no single company, agency, or individual can achieve this effort of cybersecurity and that they must leverage the knowledge, skills, and experience existing across all stakeholders.
- The first draft for a cybersecurity strategy will be developed with work from the technical working group established prior to the consultation of the OAS while further consultation will benefit from the assistance of the OAS’s program officer, Kerry-Ann Barrett.
