Group: DHS Should Lose Cybersecurity Authority

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security should be stripped of cybersecurity authority, task force says. The White House should be responsible for coordinating government cybersecurity efforts, they say. Members of a private cybersecurity task force say the Bush administration lacks a coherent national strategy. Bush’s National Cybersecurity Initiative contains many good ideas, but more work is needed, the group says. A DHS spokesman wasn’t immediately available to comment on the CSIS recommendations. The recommendations are preliminary and the group expects to finish its work by the end of the year.”]
