Eric Schmidt criticizes Carrier IQ, maker of app that secretly collects info from smartphones. Schmidt says Google cannot prevent software from being installed on Android devices. Carrier IQ app exists on about 150 million phones, including BlackBerrys, HTCs, Samsung, and Apple devices. Apple admitted that the program does exist on iPhones, but says that it has been disabled and will be removed during the next software update.
