Dnsmasq is open-source software that can be found in Android OS and Mac OS X. The software acts as a local domain name system (DNS) helping devices identify other devices and route traffic within small networks. Google researchers identified the flaws in a research paper published Monday. Google also published proof-of-concept code to demonstrate the flaws and is urging hardware vendors to deploy patches as soon as possible. The fix for the vulnerability includes upgrading to version 2.78, the maintainer of the software.
