Google Removes 2 Android Apps That Collected User Data

Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 found two apps in Google Play were collecting and leaking user data. The data could have been used to track a user’s movements and location, the researchers say. Baidu Search Box and Maps were among several apps that collected and leaked data. Google removed the apps from Google Play globally on Oct. 28, 2020, according to the researchers’ report. A Google spokesperson says the data was only used to help with the functionality of the apps and the company is working with Google to ensure all policies are followed.”]
