Google Maps: online interventions with offline ramifications

Artist Simon Weckert created a performance piece using Google Maps and a trolley of mobile phones. Maps was fooled into believing 99 cars were in an aggressive traffic jam in Berlin. Map Maker tool was used to make edits to Maps using users’ manual edits. Maps also exposed to a variety of pranks over the past few years by people playing pranks on the system. Maps is now using satellite technology to keep things keeping on in the world of traffic sensors and crowdsourcing to help with traffic patterns in 2009.”]
