Gartner analyst Avivah Litan sees positives coming from the Global Payments breach. Litan cites big data computing techniques, which can calculate and massage data in memory at very high speeds. The technology needs to go further, Litan says, especially in real-time, to detect a breach. Global Payments had an event management system, one that allowed the payments processor to detect the intrusion, even if it was two to three weeks after the breach was suspected of occurring. The breach exposed debit and credit details on an estimated 1.5 million accounts.”]
