GitHub Launches ‘Copilot’ AI-Powered Code Completion Tool

GitHub has launched a new AI-powered pair programming tool. The tool aims to help software developers write better code across a variety of programming languages. It’s based on a selection of English language and source code from publicly available repositories on GitHub. Only 0.1% of generated code could be found verbatim in the training set, GitHub says. The company says Copilot is not designed to write code on behalf of the developer, while users can cycle through suggestions and manually edit suggested code.
