Jackson County, Georgia, officials are investigating a ransomware attack that crippled IT systems over a two-week period. Local officials reportedly paid a ransom worth $400,000 in bitcoins to restore IT systems and infrastructure. Ransomware incident response firm Coveware says that on average, the Ryuk decryptor tool only manages to restore 60 percent of the data that it has crypto-locked. It was not clear as of Tuesday if all systems had returned to normal after the attack. The attack was likely to be the work of an Eastern European group, the county’s manager says.”]
