U.S. facilities that produce, use or store hazardous chemicals are vulnerable to cyberattacks. Cybersecurity guidelines from the Department of Homeland Security have not been updated in nearly 10 years, a GAO audit found. The GAO report comes as the House committee is pushing for a renewal of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program, which is set to expire in July. The program regulates operations at about 3,300 facilities in the United States, many of which use newer technologies, such as internet-connected devices.”]
