GAO Assesses IoT Vulnerabilities

Government Accountability Office releases report on Internet of Things: Status and Implications of an Increasingly Connected World. Report: IoT devices are vulnerable to an array of potential cyberattacks, including zero-day exploits, DDoS attacks and passive wiretapping. 10 federal agencies and a dozen experts reviewed the draft report, which was requested by several members of Congress. The GAO stops short of offering specific recommendations for addressing IoT risks, citing mitigation advice from experts. Cyberattacks against internet-connected devices could include “disruptor hackers” as well as broad-scale data collections.”]
